Niantic have confirmed that they will be releasing their first feature update for Pokémon Go this autumn, a Pokémon ‘Buddy’ system. This was uncovered earlier this week when data miners searched the game files and brought this to light.
Pokémon Go players will be able to select one of their Pokémon from their inventory as their ‘Buddy’, which will allow for in-game rewards and bonuses. When players have their Pokémon at their avatar’s side while the application is running and they are travelling they will be rewarded with Candies in relation to the specific ‘Buddy’ they have active.
To add to this new feature, players will see their ‘Buddies’ by their avatars on the player profile screen, which will automatically update when players swap around their Pokémon.
Niantic has not specified the exact date they intend on releasing this update for Pokémon Go, but it certainly won’t be the last update they have in store for their players.
