Hideo Kojima took to the stage at Sony’s pre-TGS conference, and revealed that Death Stranding will be an open-world action game with online components. This is the first post-Konami game Kojima has designed, and he is enthusiastic about how the game will turnout.
He explained that the game will have a degree of freedom and focus on strong story elements, but he was not ready to announce what this would entail. Death Stranding will connect players ‘by a rope or strand element’, as Kojima is currently exploring the theme of a world view connected by a ‘strand’. It was further announced that an engine had been selected for the game, but this is still disclosed information, yet we have learned that it will accommodate 4K and HDR.
Before exiting the stage, Kojima stated that his goal with his new studio, Kojima Productions, was aiming to prove that an indie studio would be able to create ‘triple-A, world class’ masterpieces.
Kojima will be on stage on the 18th September at TGS to discuss further on the topic of Death Stranding.
